Updater not importing all data

In converting EBase 2.12 to 2.20, following the instructions carefully about the *.upd files, the updater script gave these error messages:

During the import phase
-- After importing contact.upd : You are attempting to import a container field into an incompatible filed (or vice versa). This field will not be imported (clicked OK)
-- After importing log.upd : You are attempting to import a container field into an incompatible filed (or vice versa). This field will not be imported (clicked OK)

During the convert: No records match this request

The end result is my 1,100 contact records with name, note, bio and profile info, but not address, phone, email, etc. and no log entries.

I deleted those contact records and started over with the same result.

So what's wrong? And what do I do?

I haven't heard of this before - but my guess is that in fact the addresses and log items were imported but failed to 'link'. I haven't seen that message about container fields before either. I presume you have a full version of FM? by any chance did you or someone make any customizations to your 2.11??

Did you use the fully automatic updater? or did you use the semi-automatic method where you moved files around?

finally- were there any pop-up dialogues during import that asked if you wanted to 'auto-enter new data in fields...'???

and really finally - do you have any photos or anything like that in your contact data?

I just redid the whole process twice, with the same results and same messages.

I have FM 5.0v3, there are no customizations to our old Ebase which is 2.12, not 2.11, we have no photos, and no auto entry dialog box.

I did both a semiautomatic and automatic update for single user version, and I also did a fresh install and update.

While it was updating, it seemed to be importing appropriate numbers of items, but when you look at the resulting new 200 files, contactLocations.200 is 400KB campared to 1,486KB in the upd file; Locations.200 is 488 KB compared to ,1245KB in the upd file; and log.200 is 8,043KB compared to 49,271 KB in the upd file. The other 200s are about the same as their respective upd files.

I don't really have anything else to suggest - I could possibly try to figure it out if you were willing to send me your entire FM installation (I know some organizations get very concerned about this... and rightly so)..
