Installation for a single user

Discussion about how to get ebase v. 2 and get it running on a single computer (for 1 user at a time)

Main.200 and Navigator.200 Error

I have a windows xp professional 2002, on which I am trying to install ebase 2.20. I am using FileMaker 8.5 Pro but as I am trying to open ebase it gives me an error screen that the program must convert the ebase to and oldebase because of my updated version of Filemaker. It then tells me that the files Main.200 and Navigator.200 cannot be found. When I cancel out of these error screens, the entire program shutsdown.

Updater not importing all data

In converting EBase 2.12 to 2.20, following the instructions carefully about the *.upd files, the updater script gave these error messages:

During the import phase
-- After importing contact.upd : You are attempting to import a container field into an incompatible filed (or vice versa). This field will not be imported (clicked OK)

Should I upgrade to deal with ebase 2.11 refusing to open?

Rich

I had ebasePro 2.11, single user, installed on an older laptop with XP. I recently transferred it to a laptop with Vista. At first it worked. Now when I open it to use it, it opens part way but spins its wheels before it gets to the login screen. Any hints? Should I try downloading 2.20? Can I upgrade without losing any data?
